Japanese Needlework Trial Days: Sashiko / Boro

Japanese Needlework Trial Days: Sashiko / Boro

By Atelier Sashiko Belgium
ENKIDU asbl

Description

* Event Endorsement for the 160 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium in 2026

Sashiko / Boro
Sashiko is a sewing technique that uses traditional geometric pattern stitching. It looks like drawing with thread on various fabrics. Originally, sashiko was used in Japan to repair holes in clothes, reinforcing them and allowing the scarce fabrics to be used for as long as possible. Part of this mending method is also known as ‘Boro’. Nowadays sashiko is becoming popular worldwide for its spirit and the charm of rustic simplicity.
At ‘Atelier Sashiko Belgium’ in particular, you savor the tranquility unique to Japan while you stitch accompanied by genius Japanese tea. This summer, three types of workshops will be held. Take this opportunity to discover the world of sashiko!
